The Tarptent story began in 1999 when Henry Shires, not satisfied with what was available on the market, decided to create a tent that met his specifications and allowed him to travel the Pacific Crest Trail. When he couldn't find anyone to make it, he decided to build it himself. Since then, the brand has continued to innovate to meet the most demanding needs of hikers the world over.
