Description
This Sea to Summit design is part of the Alto series, a range of ultra-lightweight tents with a Tension Ridge (TR) structure. Designed by Jakes Lah (creator of the DAC poles) and Roland Tyson (founder of Sea to Summit), this type of tent is both ultra light and spacious. To achieve this, the DAC aluminium poles are angled upwards rather than downwards like most tents. This allows for a higher ceiling, vertical walls and higher doors.
With a total weight of 1100 g, the interior surface area is 1.8 m². With a ceiling height of 100 cm (and up to 105 cm in some places), you can sit comfortably. The Apex Vents on the top of the tent allow warm and humid air to be vented, thus limiting condensation.
The poles are colour coded and the legs clip on. It's both quick and easy. You can then choose between five configurations:
1. Classic Mode: classic assembly
2. Dry Set-Up: assembly of the double roof first, practical in case of rain
3. Fly Only: only the flysheet is mounted, useful for summer backpacking
4. Inner Only: only the inner chamber can be erected for sleeping under the stars while protecting against insects
5. Partial Only: partial assembly of the flysheet
The storage bag for the poles can be used as a light diffuser if you put your headlamp inside. All of which makes for a more comfortable camp experience.
