The Swedish brand Maurten has revolutionised the sports nutrition sector by offering products designed using Hydrogel technology. The latter allows the body to assimilate a greater quantity of carbohydrates while having an almost instantaneous digestion. Thus, certain tests have shown that it is possible to provide up to 80 grams of carbohydrates per hour to the human body, whereas a conventional gel provides a maximum of 60 grams.
The energy gel Gel100 Caf100 has been added caffeine in the recipe, compared to Gel 100. This improves alertness, attention and reduces the perception of the body during exertion. Simply put, caffeine is beneficial for athletic performance. It is for these reasons that many athletes such as Kilian Jornet or Mo Farah use Maurten gels.
