As the story goes, this dish originates from Lisbon and was first cooked by a tavern keeper named Brás. Bacalhau meaning "cod" in Portuguese, Bacalhau à Brás translates as Brás's Cod.
Real Turmat's recipe takes this Portuguese speciality and combines cod, potatoes, onions, tomatoes and peppers. The dish was first cooked from fresh ingredients before being freeze-dried — a process that locks in the flavours and nutrients.
This freeze-dried meal provides over 400 kcal and, more importantly, a sense of comfort after a day's hiking or offshore sailing. Ready in under 10 minutes, it is compact and lightweight before rehydration, making it easy to carry without weighing down your backpack.
