Types of stove

There are many types. The most popular is certainly the gas stove. Easy to use, it's powerful and allows quick cooking. It's the most widespread cooking system for trekking and hiking. It's also suitable for all types of outdoor activity, from sailing to mountaineering and camping.

Wood-burning stoves use twigs, pine cones or wood as fuel. They're both eco-friendly and economical. No need to carry gas canisters. This cooking system is highly valued by bushcraft enthusiasts. It's also popular with self-sufficient trekkers. Since wood is abundant on hiking routes, it's fuel you'll find everywhere.

Alcohol stoves are better suited for reheating food than cooking it. Most work with solid alcohol and liquid alcohol. They're widely used by the military as they work in all weather and seasons. They're also very light and compact. Ultralight hiking enthusiasts will appreciate them.

There are also multi-fuel stoves. They run on either liquid fuel (petrol, kerosene...) or gas canisters. This type of stove combines the advantages of gas stoves (powerful) and alcohol stoves (works in all weather). It's perfect outdoor cooking equipment for expeditions!

Finally, there are solar cookers and self-heating systems. Though less common, these remain quality equipment. Solar cookers are highly eco-friendly as they run on solar energy.
