The Primus Winter Gas Canister 230 g is designed to fuel screw-top stoves during winter bivouacs, treks and expeditions. It maintains reliable performance between -22 °C and +10 °C (-8 °F and +50 °F), where a standard canister can lose pressure significantly.
This cold-weather performance is powered by Vapour Mesh technology. An absorbent mesh placed inside the canister promotes gas vaporisation and helps maintain consistent pressure. Your stove stays more efficient as temperatures drop or fuel levels decrease.
Compatible with standard threaded connections, the canister works with a wide range of screw-top stoves from brands including Primus, MSR, Jetboil, Optimus, BRS and Hornet. The 230 g size strikes a good balance between fuel capacity and pack size for multi-day trips.
Compared to a standard canister, its key advantage is reliability in winter conditions. It is a solid choice for Nordic expeditions, high-altitude hiking and sub-zero bivouacs. Primus also states that it offsets emissions from its gas production by supporting a landfill gas recovery project in Brazil.
