Freezedried & Co launches its own outdoor freeze dried meals range

For more than 15 years, Freezedried & Co has been supporting those who venture where they can only rely on themselves. At sea, in high mountains, on multi-day hikes, in bivouac or in full self-sufficiency, eating well is not just a matter of comfort: it is a genuine necessity.

Over the years, we have seen thousands of customers, hundreds of expeditions and dozens of brands from around the world pass through. We have tasted, compared and analysed. We have exchanged with hikers, skippers, alpinists, long-haul travellers, field professionals and self-sufficiency enthusiasts. Over time, we have learned to recognise what truly works. And also what works less well.

So a question naturally arose: why not create ourselves the freeze dried food we would truly love to find in the field?

A range born from our field experience

This new range of bivouac meals bears our name, and that is no coincidence. For us, it represents a strong commitment: to put our expertise to work in products we master, understand and are proud to offer. We did not simply want to add a new reference to our catalogue. We wanted to build a coherent, useful, reliable range adapted to real conditions of use.

The starting idea was simple: offer the essentials, without compromise. Recipes that you genuinely want to eat, even after several days outdoors. Portions designed to provide energy and satiety. Easy preparation, directly in the pouch, with only water to add. And above all, meals capable of meeting the real needs of those who set out self-sufficiently.

The 100% freeze-dried choice

For this range, we made the choice of 100% freeze-dried. This point matters, because not all outdoor meals are based on the same process. Freeze-drying removes water from food using cold and vacuum, without excessive heat. It is today one of the most effective methods for preserving the nutritional qualities, taste, texture and lightness of food.

In practice, this makes a real difference. A freeze-dried meal is light to carry, quick to prepare and has a long shelf life, while offering better flavour restitution than simple conventional dehydration. When every gram counts in a backpack, when space is limited on board a boat or when preparing a long-term food stock, this technical choice makes complete sense.

Recipes designed for different profiles

We know that needs are not the same for everyone. Some are looking above all for a nourishing meal after a hard day's effort. Others need a vegetarian, gluten-free or allergen-free recipe. Some prioritise simple, natural ingredients, while others are mainly looking for a practical, reliable and durable solution. That is why this range was designed with several requirements in mind: pleasure, nutrition, satiety, ease of use and adaptability.

Six recipes in the range are made with 100% natural ingredients. Some options also address specific dietary needs, with vegetarian, gluten-free or allergen-free recipes. The goal is not to overcomplicate things, but to offer meals that are straightforward, effective and suited to real field conditions. Because a good outdoor meal should stay simple: it needs to be tasty, practical, nourishing and easy to prepare, even in imperfect conditions.

A complete range for every moment of the adventure

The Freezedried & Co range currently comprises 8 freeze dried meals, 1 breakfast, 1 dessert and 2 selection packs. The goal is simple: to offer a complete solution for every moment of a self-sufficient outing, from waking up to the evening meal.

The range includes:

  • 1 breakfast, with the grand departure breakfast, designed to fuel up from the morning before a day of walking, cycling or prolonged effort.
  • 8 savoury meals, with varied recipes to avoid monotony over several days: the Baroudeur's bolognese pasta, bivouac carbonara pasta, summit macaroni cheese, hiker's chicken tikka, campfire chicken fajita, explorer's coconut rice, adventurer's chicken fried rice and stargazer's slow-cooked beef. Meals designed to be nourishing, convenient and comforting after exertion.
  • 1 dessert, with granny's chocolate mousse, a sweet and indulgent treat to savour at the end of a meal, even in the heart of nature.
  • 2 selection packs, designed to simplify trip preparation. The selection of 5 freeze dried food makes it easy to kit out for a long weekend, a multi-day hike or a few nights of bivouacking. The complete selection, comprising 8 savoury meals, 1 breakfast and 1 dessert, offers a broader solution for several days of self-sufficiency.

Up to 6 years' shelf life

Self-sufficiency is not only about adventure. It is also about the ability to anticipate, stock up and organise. That is why we have also worked on the shelf life of this range, with a best-before date of up to 6 years. This meets the needs of hikers, travellers and sailors, as well as those who want to build a reliable long-term food supply.

Whether for an expedition departure, a go-bag, an on-board reserve or simply an emergency food supply at home, long shelf life is a real advantage. It reduces waste, allows you to plan your needs more effectively and provides a simple solution to keep to hand.

A range designed to go everywhere with you

This range was designed for real conditions. Not for an ideal tasting in a laboratory, but for the moments when you truly need a reliable meal: after 20 kilometres of walking, during a crossing, at the top of a mountain pass, under a tent, in a refuge, on a boat or in a situation of extended self-sufficiency.

We built it with everything we have learned over more than 15 years. With feedback from our customers. With our knowledge of brands, recipes, field needs and storage constraints. It bears our name because it reflects the way we see outdoor food: practical, serious, accessible, but always focused on the pleasure of eating well.

Now it is your turn to try it. And to tell us what you think. Eat well. Anywhere.
