The MSR Guardian Purifier Pump lets you filter water wherever you are, with minimal effort. Originally developed for the US military, the Guardian Purifier Pump is now available to everyone — whether you're a hiker, bikepacker or preparing for a survival situation.
The MSR Guardian Purifier Pump is a pump purifier designed to treat freshwater in demanding environments. It is suited to long expeditions, travel, self-sufficient missions and emergency situations where water quality is uncertain.
Its hollow-fibre membrane eliminates protozoa, bacteria and viruses from water. It can therefore be used in areas where a basic microfilter is not sufficient, particularly where the risk of viral contamination is higher.
Operation is straightforward: place the intake hose in the water source, then use the pump to transfer purified water directly into a bottle or other container. Flow rate can reach 2.5 litres per minute, allowing you to build up a supply quickly for one or more people.
The Guardian also features a self-cleaning system. With each pump stroke, a portion of the water is used to backflush the membrane and prevent clogging. This design reduces maintenance and maintains flow rate even under heavy use.
Rugged and drop-resistant up to 1.8 m (6 ft), it can treat more than 10,000 litres of water. Its main advantage over a standard pump filter is its ability to eliminate viruses as well, while delivering a high flow rate and automatic backflushing.
