Morakniv

Morakniv, more commonly abbreviated as Mora, is a Swedish knife brand created in 1891. Highly reputed in survival, bushcraft and outdoor circles, Mora knives are both robust and inexpensive. One of the reasons for their success, but not the only one...

First of all, you should know that Mora is a Swedish town. A traditional town that has been making sharp knives for over 400 years. In 1891, Frost-Erik Erson, a Mora resident, founded a wooden sledge factory and needed knives for the workshop. In a short time, production of these knives took off and they were exported outside Sweden. Thus, in 1904, Frost's company had 10 employees and manufactured 19,000 knives per year. The Morakniv name, however, was still far off.

At the same time, KL Eriksson, a former Frost employee who had been fired by him, also founded his own knife company. Over the years, both companies developed and sold internationally. The reputation of Mora knives in Sweden is known to all!

Eventually, the companies of KJ Eriksson and Frost, which have always had closely linked destinies, ended up merging in 1988 when Eriksson's company acquired Frost's. It wasn't until 2005 that this merger led to a name change. The company is now called Mora of Sweden. The Morakniv brand, which had existed in many people's minds for decades, only became official in 2005.

Today, Morakniv continues to manufacture its knives in the same premises as those of KJ Eriksson. A lasting expertise that is reflected in the quality of Mora knives. Inexpensive, they are nevertheless very robust and lightweight. They will accompany you during numerous expeditions, whether for bushcraft, at sea or during a trek.
