Marathon des Sables: List of Mandatory Equipment

A Self-Sufficient Ultra-Trail: Mandatory Equipment
For these self-sufficient events, each participant must prepare their personal equipment. Whether mandatory or optional, this gear typically weighs between 6.5 kg and 15 kg at the start of the race, excluding water.
Below is the list of mandatory equipment (applicable for each MDS event in Morocco, Peru, or Fuerteventura):
- Backpack
- Sleeping Bag
- Headlamp + 1 Full Set of Spare Batteries
(Example: Black Diamond Cosmo 350-R Headlamp) - 10 Safety Pins
- Precision Compass (1° or 2°)
- Lighter
- Whistle
- Knife with Metal Blade
(Example: Deejo 15g Titanium Knife) - Topical Antiseptic
- Aspivenin Pump
- Signaling Mirror
- Emergency Survival Blanket
Equipment That May Be Useful During Your Event:
- Spoon / Fork
(Example: Cutlery & Utensils) - Stove / Alcohol Tablets
(Example: Pocket Stove & Solid Fuel Tablets - Esbit)
(Note: Gas stoves are prohibited.) - Cooking Pot
(Example: Toaks Titanium Pot 0.55L) - Soft Water Bottles
- Waterproof Kitchen: "Flexible Sink"
(Example: Waterproof Kitchen - 10L) - Sports Care Products
(Example: Foot Powder)
