Victorinox
Victorinox is a knife brand from Switzerland. Famous for creating the Swiss Army knife, the company has been exporting its knives worldwide for over a century.
The story began over a century ago, in 1884. Like most companies, it started as a small workshop. Karl Elsener, the founder, crafted knives in his workshop in Ibach-Schwyz, Switzerland. Production scaled up significantly in 1891 with the first deliveries to the Swiss Army of the Model 1890. This oak-handled knife featured several tools including a can opener and a saw. The famous Officer's Knife followed in 1897.
The Victorinox brand was only registered in 1921. It's a portmanteau combining Victoria (Karl Elsener's mother) and Inox, the material used to manufacture Swiss Army knives.
Gradually, the Swiss Army knife became mainstream. Particularly during World War II, when many American soldiers bought Victorinox Swiss Army knives as souvenirs. The Swiss brand expanded internationally and became a true benchmark.
Today, the Victorinox brand represents quality, functionality, innovation and iconic design. Its logo, a red shield with a white cross, is instantly recognisable. The brand produces over 7 million pocket knives and 9 million multi-tools annually.
Victorinox Swiss Army knives are extremely popular thanks to their numerous functions. Magnifying glass, saw, screwdriver, blade and corkscrew are just some of the features you'll find on Victorinox Swiss Army knives. Their lightweight design makes them a versatile accessory, perfect to keep in your car or take on expeditions.
