Discover our power banks. Designed for autonomous outdoor activities such as hiking or mountaineering, the power banks selected by the Freezedried & Co team are compact and lightweight. They're an essential accessory for charging a mobile phone, a GoPro or even a headlamp.
How to choose a portable battery?
Choosing a power bank involves considering several important factors. First, battery capacity is crucial. Look for sufficient capacity in milliampere-hours (mAh) to meet your charging needs for the duration of your hike. A capacity of 10,000 mAh generally allows for 2 full charges, while a capacity of 20,000 mAh allows for up to 4.
Next, consider the weight and size of the power bank. For activities like hiking, you'll want something lightweight and compact that doesn't add too much weight to your backpack and is easy to store. The lightest models weigh less than 150g (5.3oz)!
Weather resistance can also be important. If this is your case, make sure to choose a robust power bank that's water-resistant or splash-proof for reliable outdoor use. An IPX5-rated battery like those designed by Nitecore is sufficiently resistant against rain.
Also, check the number of charging ports available on the power bank. If you have multiple devices to charge, opt for a model with several ports for greater convenience.
If you have no way to recharge it when empty, it may be worth pairing it with a portable solar panel. There are compact and lightweight models available, easy to carry and can be attached to your backpack straps. You'll be ready for adventure in complete autonomy!
