Whilst tungsten carbide is the best material for tips, they can still wear out.
Rather than buying a new pair of poles, you simply need to change the tips. It's quick and easy as they unscrew.
Black Diamond carbide tips are compatible with all the brand's trekking poles manufactured after 2012, except for First Strike, Trail Back, Trail Sport and Trail Explorer.
They provide excellent grip on smooth and slippery surfaces.
