The MSR FreeLite™ 1 V3 Backpacking Tent offers quite an exceptional comfort-to-weight ratio. With a weight of 890 g and minimal folded dimensions, it easily fits in a backpack. You can even reduce the weight if you do not take the storage bag or decide to leave the flysheet at home to sleep under the stars. You then have a simple mosquito net that will protect you from insects.
In terms of comfort, the MSR FreeLite 1 sets the bar high. Despite minimal weight, the tent has all the features of classic dome tents. First of all, it is a double-wall tent. The main advantage is that it prevents condensation thanks to better ventilation with the inner micromesh fabric. The tent also is semi-freestanding. You won’t need your hiking poles or many pegs to hold it up. One or two should suffice (it is still recommended to put up more for better stability). Finally, the sleeping compartment is spacious and has several storage spaces for storing your smaller pieces of equipment or even hanging a headlamp.
Its assembly is simple and intuitive. This comes from the fact that it is a semi-freestanding tent. In just a few minutes, your bivouac shelter will be ready. DAC NFL poles are strong and stand up well to poor conditions. Both the flysheet and the floor have received a DuraShield™ polyurethane treatment which makes them waterproof (Schmerber index of 1200 mm). Finally, the apse door is wide allowing you to have a good view from your mattress, in the morning when you wake up. It includes a StayDry™ gutter that prevents water from dripping on you or your gear.
