His story

My name is Matthieu Tordeur, I am 26 years old. In October 2017, I was invited to join the Société des Explorateurs Français as its youngest explorer. By bike, ski, 4L, sail or kayak, I had the opportunity to visit 90 countries. Today I never travel without my camera and I document my adventures in the press, books and documentaries.

His journey

After graduating from high school, I decided to cycle through Eastern Europe to Istanbul on my own. I had never cycled more than 50km and had never travelled alone before. Inspired by a friend older than me who had cycled around the world that year, I borrowed his mount from him and launched into my tour. My first adventure of living on my wits, where I discovered the joys of travelling and the hardships it can bring. It has never stopped since then. The following year, I applied on a “Crew Members' Scholarship” site and embarked from the Caribbean on a sailboat to cross the Atlantic. More recently, I took a 4L trip around the world with my childhood friend, Nicolas Auber, to promote microfinance. A 50,000km journey through 40 countries to meet some fifty micro-entrepreneurs, whose activities we have supported through French and international microfinance institutions… I ran 6 marathons in a row in the Sahara and in the Pyongyang Marathon in North Korea. By bike, I crossed Europe, China and Pakistan and participated in the Transcontinental Race from Flanders to Istanbul. By kayak, I went down the Seine, by sail, I crossed the Atlantic and on skis I travelled 300km inside the Arctic Circle to Greenland and Svalbard.
